The Pobblebonk, also known as the Eastern Banjo frog, is a burrowing frog. That is why I found it underneath a sleeper in my garden. The sleeper, that provided an edge along the side of the driveway, had become dislodged. I found the frog after I had lifted the sleeper. I relocated the frog into a safe area nearer the lake.
The Pobblebonk frog (Limnodynastes dumerili), is so-called because that is what it’s call sounds like: “pobblebonk, pobblebonk”. It grows to around 50 to 80cm and that puts this one at the larger end.
