The Redback Spider (Latrodectus hasselti) is a venomous spider and can inflict a nasty bite. It is probably the most easily recognised spider in Australia. And yes, most Australian critters want to kill you!
This one was photographed (and avoided!) on a field trip to the Bridgewater Quarry, Tasmania, in April 2011.
